See Spot Run: Working with Circles Instead of Rectangles

Hey friends! Traci here today encouraging you to step out of the straight-lines box into the magical world of circular design! I created this layout using the Jack & Skelly collection and these templates from Cindy Schneider and I realized just how often I DON’T use circles as a major design element!

But circles were perfect for this page of my oldest dressed up as a puppy dog, complete with spots! I think circles aren’t often used because they require more specialized tools - punches, cutting machines, etc or freehand-cutting which can often be imperfect. But I encourage you to dive into circles wherever possible, even if you’re tracing cups to cut out papers!

For this page, after I had my base of photos, papers, journaling spots and those fun bursts, I added in the circular frame stickers from the Jack & Skelly Stickers too! From there it was all about adding embellishments and nestling in fun ghosts and pumpkins throughout the design to play up the Halloween theme.

When playing with circles, not everything has to be a perfect circle to repeat the design element - you can see here that the flowers, pumpkins and even spider webs all give the same vibe when clustered together!

So I encourage you to literally think outside the box with your next layout and get ahead of the curve! Ha!
