Spooky Chic: Creating a DIY Halloween Wreath with Vanessa
It’s that time of year when all the festive Halloween decorations go up around the house. Today we are going to create a spooky chic Halloween wreath to celebrate the season and add some fun to your holiday décor. This wreath has a simple design leaving you plenty of room to customize and make it your own. The new Jack & Skelly collection is the perfect collection to use and provides everything you need to create this fun project.
The first step is to collect your supplies, paper, foam wreath, adhesive, and embellishments from the collection to use on your wreath
I am using a 12x12 foam wreath for my project today, but you can use whichever size you choose. To start I selected the pattern papers I wanted to use for my background and cut the papers into 2-inch strips. Once I had the strips cut, I put the ends together and created a fish tale banner on each strip of paper.
With all my papers cut I simply looped the strips around the wreath and glued the paper ends together around the wreath. I repeated this same process all the way around the wreath until the entire foam wreath was covered. For this size wreath I used 18 strips of pattern paper. You can combine the papers together however you would like to create your own unique pattern.
Once the wreath is covered, now it is time to embellish. I chose to cluster the adorable ephemera from the Jack &Shelly collection toward the bottom right of the wreath and added some bats in the top left. One item I specifically pulled was the journaling card that read “welcome to our haunt”. I thought this journaling card worked perfectly for this wreath project. I used silhouette studio to resize, print and cut the individual elements for this project. Using a digital collection gives you the freedom to resize your ephemera which was perfect for this project as I need to resize the bats to fit my project.
With the embellishments in place, I added some sequins to add some sparkle, and my wreath is complete, and I now have a spooky chic Halloween wreath to hang anywhere inside or out. I hope this project has inspired you to create some of your own Halloween decorations for the season.
