Focus On: Ex Libris Galaxias Part Three

Happy Oldies But Goodies Tuesday! It’s that time again where I take one of my favorite collections and show you why I love it so, AND mark it down a whopping 50% off so you can grab it and play too!

I don’t know if you know this, but I share a birthday with a certain magical wizard, so when I wanted to create a bookish collection, a magical one was written in the stars! Ex Libris Galaxias literally means “From The Library of the Galaxy” and this collection is filled with magical galactic art and references to go with all the gorgeous books!

Looking for some fun and unique files to play with? Ex Libris Galaxias is an extra large collection that has mixed media, stamps and even a galaxy-style paper pack too!

Pick up Ex Libris Galaxias while it’s 50% off through Thursday and keep reading for more inspiration for your new collection!

For my page, I dug back into my stash of my 1.5 million library photos I have with my youngest kid and reminisced about how he used to love getting a huge bag of books on summer days. I used a template from Cindy Schneider for this page and translated it into a paper layout - one of my favorite techniques!

The Ex Libris Galaxias is a collection that contains two of my most favorite things, reading and galaxies!! I decided to use this collection to document a book that I am currently reading (Love Unwritten by Lauren Asher)! I used the Galaxy overlay with one of the solid background papers to create a background for my photo then embellished with a journaling card and some of the stickers from the sticker pack! This collection is so great for documenting reading!

If you’d like to watch this layout come together, I recorded the process video and you can find it here:

The Ex Libris collection is not only great for documenting your reading “addiction” - I think its also going to be great to document lots of my photos from Harry Potter Studios from my recent UK trip! The Galaxy papers and the mixed media will be perfect for the pictures of Gringotts, the Castle and the sets from the Forbidden Forest. So many great ways to use this collection - just think outside of the “covers” of your book.

I have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to document my favourite 10 books of 2023 and this month’s OBG using Ex Libris Galaxias was that moment. I love the mix between the beautiful galaxy colours and the vintage “old book” style stickers and ellies. I did a 12x12 layout because I wanted to use a large photo. I added textural elements using some embroidery thread, gold glitter stars and a dimensional alpha.

Tracie

My book shelf has recently gotten out of control and Traci’s Ex Libris Galaxias was the perfect kit to document it. I love all of the word arrows in the sticker set, they were just what I needed to point out my TBR books and my big DNF book.

Ex Libris might be one of my all time favorite kits, and that’s probably because I love to read— maybe even more than I love to scrapbook?!? I’ve been wanting to use this super detailed sketch/template all about books, and Traci asking us to use the ExLibris kit just … fit!  But this time, I documented all about my kiddos love for reading, not mine!  I’ll play around with this this template a little bit more when it comes to MY reading habits too!  I love detailed templates like this, because you can change where you tuck things away or change colors/kits, and you can make a whole new layout that barely looks similar to ones you’ve done before!  The scrappy gift that just keeps giving!
