Christmas in July: Three Ways with Theresa!
Theresa - Christmas In July December Daily Day 11 With The Naughty List
Who else has incomplete December Dailies? I definitely did not get to complete mine last year and I love working on it in the month of July just for fun. On Day 11 I decided to document our son Nick coming home from college. Lately I have been on a kick of featuring a single sticker or element on my pages, and for this one it was definitely the vellum trees from The Naughty List. Another element I wanted to feature was this oval word art that was on one of the journal cards in the second pack. I brought that in to Silhouette and cut it larger to fit the page using just plain white card stock.
There are several tricks I’ve used to maintain consistency across the layout, even though they both have different background papers. Here are some of the items I’ve repeated:
Repeat elements on your background paper. For the left side I’ve used the tree patterned paper with colorful stars around the page. I used the digital mixed media stars from the Ellies pack and added those to the right hand patterned paper.
The vellum trees absolutely needed to be printed in vellum and I decided they would be really cute all around the die cut word art. I also added a few of them on the left hand side by the photo.
The left hand side title is also one of the Ellies, the Oh What Fun banner. I repeated banners on the right hand side behind the word art and trees.
The word banners in red and black on the left side are prominent on the layout, and I love the snarkiness! I repeated word banners on the right, pulling the yellow and blue banners from the word art itself and printing them as they were. They pop so well against the white.
Notice how there are two of us in the photo, plus the two elves and then the word art also references jolly elves to bring this tongue in cheek layout all together!
What a fun way to document this story and I hope you are inspired to create too!
Theresa - Christmas In July December Daily Day 12 With Candy Coated Christmas
This page started out as a foundation page with the idea that the gifts could open out like windows to reveal the photos + story of the day. I brought these adorable hand drawn presents from Candy Coated Christmas into Silhouette and printed them a bit large so they would have presence on the page. I added some of the patterned papers as well so they would look authentic! I had the Silhouette cut the center lines so I could open them out to reveal photos and journaling behind it.
The event I chose to document was our annual visit to Tanglewood, a drive thru lights show here in Winston. Since we go to this event every year, I probably have a ton of the same photos, but doing the layout this way challenged me to show another way to document repetitive stories. And it is so much fun to open each gift to see what’s behind it!
Theresa - Christmas In July December Daily Day 15 With Candy Coated Christmas
This layout began with one of the travelers notebook signatures in the Candy Coated Christmas collection. I thought it would be fun to add dimensional elements to these fun ornaments, so again I brought them in to Silhouette and printed + cut several versions of each one. The story I wanted to incorporate was the cute holiday memes from Pusheen the cat, so I grabbed some of those from the internet and clipped them into the ornament frames.
Then I printed my background papers and added the ornament shapes on top. To create the sequin pockets I layered blank ornaments and a transparency cut to size. The sequins I used are from Michaels (the green trees, green holly leaves, and red holly berries), Doodlebug Designs (Sugar Coated Lily White Glitter), and also a random white snow (probable from Target). I also reserved one of the ornaments for the day number (15 from Vicki Boutin; stamp Elle’s Studio) and I also created a fun title from puffy alphabets (Freckled Fawn). This was so much fun to make!
