Caroline - Strong AF
My first decisions when working with this sketch were a) which collection to work with and b) what size to work at.
I am still loving my disc bound Travellers Notebook and since Traci’s sketches are so easy to convert into different canvas sizes, I opted to keep going in that project.
I’m also IN LOVE with the current collection Strong AF and its stunning colour palette so that decision was also easy!!
I scaled the sketch down easily for a double TN spread - working with a 3x4 photo and card. My grid was comprised of 2x2” squares and I opted to keep all of these whole rather than cut any into triangles.
The sketch could be interpreted with stitching around the squares and I nearly did that. Instead I opted to ink the edges of each rather than add in the extra texture.
Inking with black meant I wanted to bring in some more hits of black so I did this with my alphas and some word phrase stickers.
I’m really happy with my take on this sketch and am looking forward to seeing how the rest of the team twist the sketch or whether they stick closely to it.
Emiley - Felicity
I love sketches and I love grids. So a sketch featuring a grid? Fuhgeddaboudit.
I wanted to document a picture of my daughter in her pretty blue prom dress, so I chose Traci’s Felicity collection - the colors of the collection match her dress perfectly! I stuck pretty close to the sketch, just swapping out the star elements for the beautiful florals found in the digital kit. I also decided to use one of the frames in the kit to really make my picture pop.
I love the way this layout came together and I hope you do too!
Theresa - Keep Chasing Rainbows
Recently I had the opportunity to accompany my child River to a new hair salon, one that we were hoping would be more affirming for them. And it was an amazing experience for River, so I could not wait to document what I’ve learned from this experience. Sketch 49 along with the Keep Chasing Rainbows collection together brought this story to life in such an amazing way! The sketch gave nine awesome blocks to clip the rainbow order patterned papers from Keep Chasing Rainbows, and I simply backed the printed squares with grey card stock. I then used the clouds instead of stars as the sketch called for, and also added in some of my favorite word banners from Keep Chasing Rainbows where the sketch called for word strips. The sketch called for the photo to be backed by a grey block, but I chose to back it with the rainbow patterned paper and a plain white journaling page sandwiched in between. Where the sketch called for a 3x4 journal card, I opted instead to use one of the journal spots and added more public journaling there. For my title, I created River’s name using alphabets in the Keep Chasing Rainbows collection along with the today word art also in the collection. This was so easy and fun to pull together a very special day. Thanks for checking it out!
Melinda - Moonlit
Karidan - Wildflower
Spring is really on my mind right now and getting my backyard together is one of our main focuses this year as it is my happy place! It definitely is a work in process but we feel so at peace in the evenings when walking out here so making sure I do stories about it is important to me. I took this sketch and paired it down to the 7x8.25 size that I typically work in! Then to add more depth to this page I popped up certain squares with foam tape along with the picture to make it pop off the page more since using several busy patterns. I was so excited to jump back into Wildflowers and revisit this kit as the color palette makes me soo happy!
