Hello and welcome to the sixth edition of our fun series: Mix It Up Monday! Today we’re combining two collections that may have pretty different color palettes but have themes that intermix and mingle pretty well! Autumn Enchantment is a fall-inspired magical collection that has some nods to books and Ex Libris Galaxias is a pretty magical reading collection and when the team combined them, no matter which direction the took the theme, they made magic!

I first started with paper piecing and printing the gorgeous purple geometric and the plaid from the Ex Libris Galaxias collection, then I added in the green, black icon, orange leaf, and purple moon papers from the Autumn Enchantment. I also added in stickers from both collections into my embellishment clusters since they go perfectly together. If you like to mix collections than these two are great together!

The very first thing that caught my eye in the new Autumn Enchantment collection was the book stacks. The nods to magic also led me toward the fantasy genre, one of my current favorites. For me, combining this collection with Ex Libris Galaxias was a perfect match.

I go through phases in my reading preferences, so I chose to tell the story of the different types of books I’ve been enjoying this year. For one of my pages, I tried to mimic the screen of my Kindle with book covers of recent reads. Mixing the kits’ stickers and word strips made everything come together.

I absolutely love mixing two collections together, and these two are especially cool as a pair! I felt like these two would go great as a back to school layout, with the fall themes of Autumn Enchantment, and the books and starry/moon themes in Ex Libris Galaxias. I began my layout with a patterned paper from Autumn Enchantment, mainly because it is sort of rust/maroon and that is our kids’ school color. I opened that up onto a blank canvas in Photoshop and then just started adding fun stickers and ellies from both collections! I decided to use this page for our youngest River, who just started 10th grade. I loved using the diagonal line of the background paper to ground all of the elements on the page, and I especially like having that fun pocket for the journal card! Once I had everything laid out in Photoshop, it was easy enough to print, cut, and put it all together. As a final touch, I added my title Movin’ On Up using some alphabets from Cocoa Daisy, and a few enamel dots from my stash.

I decided to do something new this year by reading books with a spooky theme during the month of October. But which kit to use to scrap them? Ex Libris Galaxias had all of the reading elements and Autumn Enchantment had all of the fall elements. Together they were perfect for my spooky, but not too scary October reads!

I love mixing kits. It’s one of my favorite things to do. Autumn Enchantment and Ex Libris Galaxias were a fun pairing. Both kits have a bit of a mystical/magical theme to them. And I can never pass up a good book. They can be time machines and also bring you to far away lands. This was my focus for my layout. I thought the florals mixed well together too so I was able to get some great clusters with combining the two collections. I do use a template from Alchemy Wild Studios which I modified slightly. If you are ever hesitant about mixing kits, don’t be!
