Focus On: We The People

Happy Oldies But Goodies Tuesday! It’s that time again where I take one of my favorite collections and show you why I love it so, AND mark it down a whopping 50% off so you can grab it and play too!

In honor of today being Election Day in the United States, I’m kicking it back to the Voting collection I created in the aftermath of the 2016 election: We The People. We The people contains all the classic symbols of the United States like the Statue of Liberty and The White House, as well as symbology surrounding voting and elections and political parties. In a classic vintage color palette with distressing all around, it’s a great collection that stands the test of time and you can’t beat 50% off for the next 48 hours!

When this fabulous collection was first released, I created two layouts: one focused on my experience voting in the 2016 Presidential Election, and the other capturing the late-night excitement of watching the election results with my husband.

I had so much fun with this project! I wanted to make a quilt inspired design and found the perfect opportunity to match that concept with the We the people collection. I distressed the paper to add more texture and added just a few extra decorations to keep the focus on the pattern.

I created this layout using Traci Reed’s We The People collection.  I wanted something special for this cool ceremony that my husband got to participate in while he was deployed in Poland in 2023.  This was a wreath laying ceremony in memoriam of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. The US Army attends this ceremony annually in respect of the partnership between the United States and Poland.  I added some stitching on the sunburst paper and put one of the stars in the same color as the ray at the end.  I also grabbed the title banner from the Memorial Day collection because it was perfect for this layout.

This election, I set a challenge for myself to listen to the stories of others and to read to understand some of what was going on in this country. We the People was the perfect kit to use to document the books I managed to finish. I love the text on the alpha in this kit, it tied into my reading theme so well. I started a bit late (August), so I have many still to read in my TBR pile, but I’m glad to have the ones I did get through documented!
