Focus On: Anywhere But Here 3.0

It’s getting to be that time of year again where the northern hemisphere is itching to go on big adventures! I designed the Anywhere But Here collection in 2021 after literally being locked in the house for a year (thus the name!) where I wanted to be ANYWHERE but in my own home! Anywhere But Here embodies the itch for adventure and travel with a perfectly pastel color palette that will compliment all your travel photos!

And lucky you! We’re celebrating Anywhere But Here for Oldies But Goodies for the next 48 hours with a 50% off sale!

I love the Anywhere but Here collection and the fact that it can be used for any kind of travel from around town to around the world. For my layout I am documenting a walk with my son not traveling the world but exploring our little corner of it. I love the versatility of this collection and that I can use it to document even the simplest stories.

I just love the spring time and summer when the travel layouts and collections start rolling out! To get us in the mood, this month’s OBG is Traci Reed’s Anywhere But Here collection and it is my favorite! Recently we took a road trip to Raleigh, NC, to see some sights and I have been wanting to do a series of layouts about our adventure in my 2024 6x8 album. We loved visiting the Museum of Art, so many thought-provoking pieces there. I chose a full page photo and then four smaller photos to begin with. I loved the slide elements in the collection so I printed them out using some of the patterned papers and then created flip-ups. For the large photo, I brought in a transparency for a tip-in, and layered older chipboard alphabets on top. The photo is of us in the entrance way to the West Building and I didn’t realize I had taken it at a slight angle! But I decided to play that up by placing the chipboard on the angle as well and I love the modern feel of that.

To embellish the layout, I used a few of the beautiful florals, which contrast nicely against the yellow background paper. For my journaling I created a column of labels and embellishments along the fold of the tip-in, using some of the fun signs and the compass and sunglasses. I also used one of the journal cards to notate our location and the date. I hope my layout inspires you to go see some sights and then make a great layout with this collection!

I love this collection and have used it a few times for sunny, summer day photos. However I wanted to stretch myself and use it for photos taken in February, albeit on a sunny day! By focussing on the yellow from the daffodils and red in my husband’s coat and bringing in elements from the sticker pack that weren’t tropical I was able to pull it off and I love the layout I ended up with. So if you see a collection which seems it’s themed for a certain event don’t hesitate to try and use it for something completely different!

I used a hexagon shape temple as the base for my layout design. I clipped my choice of papers and layered with clusters of flowers/florals as per my usual style. The photo is of my daughter when we went to Riyadh Zoo for the first time. Though it was scorching hot that time, we still had a lot of fun, specially her.

As a busy gal, I don’t always have time for all my favorite hobbies, but the one I always make time for is Travel! I love to travel anytime or anywhere, even if its only trip planning. So as you can imagine, travel themed collections are also my favorite scrapbook products - and Traci’s Anywhere But Here is one of my all-time favs. I love all the bright colors, patterns and the map papers. We took a big family trip for a destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta and it was so, so fun. The location for the wedding was stunning  - and I was so happy I got this beautiful photo of the setting sun and the beach.

I loved all the patterned paper so much - I had a hard time choosing which one to use - so I used a bunch!! I used a previous Sunday sketch (available on Traci’s blog) so I got to highlight a lot of my favorite patterns. Since there was already a lot of color going on I chose a black & white journal card to tell my story with a favorite photo of me.  I have so many incredible photos from this trip - I’ll be using all of Traci’s travel lines (maybe a new one coming soon too….) to document my memories!
