December Daily 2021: Day 10 | What A Difference A Year Makes
When Patrick and I got our booster shots earlier this month and I wanted a photo for the album so I could write this story about how different (and not different) this Christmas is from last Christmas, I was not expecting a series of “award family photos,” but it’s what I got and it’s pretty hilarious!
For the non-transparent pockets, I used my free card I created last year when they announced the vaccine because I enjoyed the full-circle moment and then slipped one of the photos in the other pocket with the caption “spread cheer, not germs” using stickers from the Candy Coated Christmas Collection and the Soft Mint Alpha from Citrus Twist Kits. The Hey Santa sequin/polymer mix from The Inner Creativity Shop was added to the pockets yesterday with the gold-foiled 10!
I already had two transparent pockets I needed to work with from day 9, and the one with the number was already done and sealed, so for the snowflake one, I decided to just put a flair bit from Scrappin’ Happy Studio in the middle of the snowflake and then I thought it was still a little too transparent, so I added glitter in mint and blush then sealed the pocket with my fuse.
For my 6x8 full-page, I decided I wanted to play with some mixed media, so I started by using the packaging technique + Mardi Gras ink from Catherine Pooler to create my background and layered some gold Heidi Swap Color Shine drops over the top.
Then I cut two copies of a cut file by Paige Evans (one without cutting out the inside of the stars - see video for tutorial) and layered those over my background.
My center photo is actually a flip-up to reveal a third photo, plus my journaling and it’s all popped up on foam tape to give it dimension and height over the wreath. I decorated the whole page with stickers from the Candy Coated Christmas Collection and then used Nuvo drops to add some dots around the wreath as well.
The last thing I did was add my title that I created on my silhouette around the outside of the wreath in pink. I liked the contrast of pink with all that red and green and it helped tie in the Candy Coated Christmas Collection to the whole layout as well.
