December Daily 2023: Story One
Here we go! Let’s get this December Daily party started with a good old fashioned pocket page!
Story One
My first story for December Daily is all about how we are celebrating/decorating for Yule and the Winter Solstice this year instead of Christmas. I spent most of the end of November hand making a bunch of natural decor for the house (and still have more to make!) and I wanted a really vintage/natural vibe for the page.

I knew I wanted that gorgeous photo of my tree to be the star of the show, so I printed it at 6x8 and used a simple wreath and rose gold numbers from the Oh What Fun! Kit by Citrus Twist Kits in the center to add to it, rather than detract from it.
I really like my photos in pocket pages to be smaller than the pockets themselves and backed with pattern. I think it adds to the pages and makes them pop, so I printed my photos at 2.5x3.5 and 3.5x5.5 and backed them with papers from the Christmas Joy Mega Bundle from Digital Scrapbook Ingredients at Sweet Shoppe Designs. The bottom card was created with a combination of paper + digital mixed media from the same collection!
All my embellishing throughout uses die cuts from the Oh What Fun! Kit because the retro/vintage vibe really compliments the theme, I think. I also used some of the clusters I created with that kit on Day 4 of my 2023 Stress Free Foundation Pages series!
By using the Simple Stories adhesive photo flips, I extended the number of pockets I had by FOUR - always a win for me! On the inside of my 4x6 pocket, I included another photo and printed my journaling on one of the photo-realistic papers from the Christmas Joy Mega Bundle..
Lastly, inside my 3x4 flap, I included another photo of some of the decor I’m making with a card from the Christmas Joy Mega Bundle as well! I really love how this page came out very clean, but not simple, as I’ll never feel like a simple page is “done” but I love the clean lines of them!
