Design Tip with Ali: Creating with Strong Horizontal Lines!
Happy Fall! It’s Ali, @funadventureswithali sharing some fall vibes with you for the Traci Reed Design Team. As soon as I saw that sunflower paper in the new Equinox collection I knew I had the perfect pictures to scrap for this paper!
I cut the sunflower paper and green solid paper into horizontal strips that were about twice the width of my horizontal photos. The sunflower paper pops against the yellow background and by utilizing the green solid paper in the middle, it breaks up the repetition of all the sunflowers and gives your eye a place to rest (and somewhere for me to put my title!)
The stitching under the title draws your eye in and reinforces the horizontal lines. If you don’t have a sewing machine or you are not able to hand stitch, just use a pen or ruler to make your own stitches. It’s very easy to do and adds a lot of Interest to your page.
I added a border punch to the last strip of paper to give some texture to the page and fussy cut the leaves and added flair buttons from Scrappin Happy Studio to them to break up the linear feel and give the page a little more movement.
I hope this layout and collection gives you all the fall vibes and gives you ideas for designing with strong lines!
