December of Memories 2021: In a Slump? 5 Stories I Always Tell!

Sometimes, you get about halfway through a project like December Daily and start to lose momentum - are you in that place? Here are 5 stories Stephanie tells every year to get her through the mid-project slump!

1. Decorating Our Tree

From the time we pull out the tree box (or going to a tree farm for a real tree) to Decorating it. There will be at least one story within the process. Last year it was talking about how we had to get new lights. Bah humbug. 2020 right. For 2019 I went back in time to document decorating our tree that year and my journaling was all about how tiny my children looked just two years ago.

2. Seasonal Decor

From my favorite coffee mug, our mini trees, a festive shirt, to our wrapping paper. These are all little stories worth sharing anytime in your album. Even if it's the same decor. Dig deeper. When did you get this decor and why? Do you tend to pick new wrapping paper every year or you tend to pick the same color scheme because it's asthectically pleasing under your tree. (guilty)

3. A Story of The Past

I don't have many photos of my childhood, so telling a story I remember as a kid documents those memories somewhere. No photos needed. This also opens the door to having different voices in your album as you ask your partner, family, and maybe even your kids. I share a story of something I never knew growing up we use to get real trees. I place this on a tag and call it done.

4. A list. A wish. A right now, A currently, etc-

From bucket lists to a simple wish to a currently of each family member. These can be sprinkled in throughout the entire album on a tag, a pocket or a whole layout anytime. I did a wish for myself. I also asked my family what they love about Christmas. I'm so glad I asked this because it gave me perspective on what to make sure to include during the season. Lastly, a right now moment for me would start like this I feel, I see, I smell, I hear etc.

5. Christmas Movies & Shows

Yes these are a given to most. I'm no different. However, it varies how I place it in my album each year. You can place it as a list you go back to mark the ones you got to see. For this year in a double page spread I'm documenting the top 10 movies we call iconic Christmas movies. These will change as the boys get older, so I love having this to look back on each year. I will also include a list of all the others we managed to see. I'm also fitting in my personal list of hallmark movies I get to see. Because why not. Being the only girl in a home with 3 boys and my husband. We tend to skipp hallmarks movies. Not this year. In fact I may even get my husband to watch a couple with me.

There you have it. Five stories I always tell in my album. I hope this inspires you to include a new story or two. To also find the joy in telling the same stories.
