One Hybrid Layout: Five Ways to Add Texture with Becky!
Some people might think that using hybrid scrapbooking products means lack of texture in a layout. However this doesn’t have to be the case. In creating this layout using Equinox I have used five different ways of adding texture.
The first thing I did when creating this layout was to sew a circle with my sewing machine. This immediately adds some different texture to the page.
Once the circle was stitched, I started to create my layout. I added some water colour paint to the background using the packaging technique – another way of adding texture to a layout. The strips of paper had texture added to them by distressing and tearing the edges.
I also embossed one of the plain papers Traci always provides in her collections. This green paper looked wonderful once embossed and it is definitely something I will do again on a layout.
Another way of adding texture is to fold paper. You can do this and create ruffles, or as in this case I folded the paper to make a ruffle and then turn it into an embellishment cluster. I have also used paper in the past to create rosettes which is another good way of adding texture.
The last way I added texture to this layout was to hand sew the trails for the bees. Hand sewing is one way I adore adding texture to a page. You can do a simple straight stitch, a chain stitch or a back stitch like I have done here. French knots also look great on a layout.
To finish this layout off I added some butterflies I had printed onto vellum (giving yet another texture) and then some Nuvo drops and titles from my stash. So, if you have been put off using digital collections because you think they are a little ‘flat’ think again! There’re always ways to add extra texture and dimension!
